Cooperation in the Field of Nuclear Energy - Türk Loydu and TÜV Nord signed Nuclear Cooperation Protocol

Turkey is preparing to pass nuclear energy with the aim of getting rid of external dependency in energy supply. In this respect investmentssuch as Mersin Akkuyu, which is under construction and Sinop nuclear power plant, which is under project preparation works are continuing rapidly. According to the nuclear standards and legislation established for the safe installation and operation of nuclear power plants, conformity assessment services are the most important phases of the process. In order to carry out conformity assessment (testing, inspection and certification) and training services in this area; a tripartite cooperation protocol has been signed between TÜV Nord Germany, which is a well-known German conformity assessment institution in the field of nuclear energy and Turk Loydu, national conformity assessment body of Turkey.

Cooperation protocol was signed with the ceremony held at Turk Loydu Head Office in Istanbul with the participation of Cem Melikoglu, Chairman of Turk Loydu Foundation, Astrid Petersen, TÜV Nord EnSys GmBh & Co.

General Manager of the Turk Loydu Foundation Economic Alper Eralp, Director of Industry and Certification Sector Ayfer Adıgüzel, TÜV Nord EnSys GmBh & Co. Business Development Manager Dr. Oliver Rabe, International Nuclear Activities, KG Department of Nuclear Activities Design & Materials and Equipment Safety Manager Ulrich Ruckriem, Türk Loydu managers and TÜV Nord managers were also present during the ceremony.

Within the scope of the protocol, TÜV Nord Germany which have internationally high level of experience in nuclear energy, and Türk Loydu, one of the leading institutions related to industrial certification and inspection of Turkey, and whom have the sectoral know-how, infrastructure competence and high standards will deliver joint services for nuclear energy sector.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Cem Melikoglu, Chairman of the Turk Loydu Foundation, said that they would like to take part as a national organization in the activities related to the nuclear power plants that will open new horizons for meeting the energy needs of our country and all the mega infrastructural projects in our country. They are pleased to cooperate with TÜV Nord, one of the major conformity assessment bodies in nuclear energy with international experience for this.
Mr. Melikoglu stressed that the national mission, which they have successfully accomplished in naval vessels up to now, is aiming at the spread of high technology products in our country by continuing similarly in nuclear energy activities.

In her speech on behalf of TUV Nord, TÜV Nord EnSys GmBh & Co. General Manager of KG. Astrid Petersen mentioned the experience of TUV Nord in nuclear field and wishes that the cooperation protocol they have made with Türk Loydu will bring successful results for TUV Nord, Turk Loydu and to Turkey as well.
