Hazardous Material Transportation

Türk Loydu, in addition to the certification and inspection services it provides as a Type A Inspection Organization according to ISO/IEC 17020 standard within the scope of ADR/RID/IMDG 6.2, 6.7, 6.8, 6.11 and CSC, has been appointed as the authorized institution of our country for the approval, certification and inspection of pressure vessels, tank containers, portable tanks, MEGC and cargo containers within the scope of road (ADR), railway (RID), air (IATA-DGR) and sea (IMDG CODE) transportation of dangerous goods by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye on 01/01/2014.

Approval, certification and inspection activities and related equipment within the scope of our authority;

  • Type approval, initial, interim, periodic and exceptional inspections and certification of pressure vessels, tank containers, portable tanks and MEGC carrying dangerous goods are carried out.
  • In-house production site and in-house inspection service authorization is provided to pressure vessel manufacturers and filling facilities by checking the company infrastructure specifically for pressure vessels, aerosol sprayers and gas cartridges. (IS)
  • Type approval, product verification, periodic inspection and CSC certification works of containers are carried out.
    • Cylinders: It means a portable pressure vessel with a water capacity not exceeding 150 liters.
    • Tubes: (Class 2) It means a portable pressure vessel with a water capacity of more than 150 liters and less than 3000 liters, seamless or composite.
    • Cylinder bundles: It means a group of cylinders attached to each other, fastened together with a manifold and transported as a single piece. When Class 2 (groups starting with the letter T according to ADR 2.2.2.1.3) toxic gases are intended to be transported, the water capacity is limited to 1000 liters; otherwise, the total water capacity cannot exceed 3000 liters.
    • Aerosol dispensers: Means an article consisting of any non-refillable container made of metal, glass or plastic and containing a gas, whether liquid or not, paste or powder, compressed, liquefied or dissolved under pressure, to which is attached a device capable of dispensing the contents of the gas in the form of solid or liquid particles suspended in the gas, foam, paste or powder, or liquid or gas.
    • Small containers containing gas (gas cartridges): Means a non-refillable container containing a gas or a mixture of gases under pressure, having a capacity of not more than 1 000 ml for containers made of metal and not more than 500 ml for containers made of synthetic material or glass. It may be fitted with a valve.
    • Fuel cell cartridges containing liquefied flammable gas: Means an electrochemical device which converts the chemical energy of the fuel into electrical energy, heat and reaction products.
    • Portable tanks: Means a multi-mode tank with a capacity not exceeding 450 litres, as specified in the portable tank instruction (T-Code) in Column (10) of Table A of Chapter 3.2, when used for the carriage of gases as specified in ADR 2.2.2.1.1 and according to the definitions in the IMDG Code or in Chapter 6.7.
    • Multiple-element gas containers (MEGC): Means a unit consisting of elements connected by a manifold and mounted on a frame. The following elements may be considered as elements of a multiple-element gas container: Cylinders, tubes, pressure drums or bundles of cylinders, as well as tanks with a capacity exceeding 450 litres, used for the carriage of gases as defined in ADR 2.2.2.1.1.     • Tank containers: Means a transport equipment meeting the definition of a container and consisting of a body and elements of equipment. This includes equipment that facilitates the movement of the tank container without significant modification. These tank containers are used for the carriage of gases, liquids, powders or granular substances and when used for the carriage of gases, their capacity is greater than 0.45 m3 (450 litres) as specified in ADR 2.2.2.1.1.
    • Tank swap bodies: Are considered as a tank container.
    • Bottled gas tankers: Means a vehicle that contains parts connected to each other by manifolds and permanently fixed to the vehicle. The following are the parts of a bottled gas tanker: Cylinders, tubes, bundles of cylinders (also called frames), pressure drums and tanks of more than 450 litres capacity for the carriage of gases as specified in ADR 2.2.2.1.1.
    • Equipment covered by the CSC Convention: UN-MEGC, portable tanks, overseas cargo containers. The Convention for Safe Containers is the certification of the safeness of container carrier frames under the international agreement.
