New Building
Classification is a comprehensive process to ensure the safety, structural integrity, and performance of ships. To request classification for a new ship, an application is submitted to Türk Loydu by completing the New Building Ship Classification Request Form. The form must be completed in full, and in case of any doubt, the Türk Loydu New Building Department should be consulted. The Classification and Surveys section under TÜRK LOYDU Rules should be reviewed, and classification notations should be completed in accordance with the specifications of the planned vessel.
The necessary plans and calculations of a ship to be built under Türk Loydu class must be approved by Türk Loydu Plan Approval and Engineering Department in accordance with Türk Loydu rules and international standards. Any requests for changes to be made in the approved drawings and accounts must be submitted to Türk Loydu in advance.
The materials, machinery and equipment to be used on a ship to be built under Türk Loydu class must be certified by Türk Loydu. You can access the product certification list of materials that need to be certified by Türk Loydu here
The welding methods for welds to be performed on ships built or modified under the supervision of Türk Loydu must be approved by Türk Loydu. Welders at the shipyard and/or subcontractors involved in building the ship must be certified in accordance with the relevant Türk Loydu Rules.
Türk Loydu is authorized by certain flag states to carry out activities related to statutory documents within the framework of international regulations on their behalf. These activities include approving reports, conducting surveys, inspections, and issuing relevant certificates.
Before submitting survey and certification requests on behalf of flag states, the Flag States and Authorization Table should first be reviewed for the survey and certification requests authorized by Türk Loydu.
Starting from the initial stages of its construction and outfitting, the built ship is checked and inspected through various phases: block construction, block erection, erection in the slipway or dry dock, pre-outfitting, outfitting in the slipway or dry dock, post-launch outfitting, and sea trials. It is ensured that the ship is constructed according to Türk Loydu-approved drawings and Türk Loydu rules. If the ship is deemed suitable as a result of the inspections and tests conducted by Türk Loydu surveyors, a Türk Loydu Class Certificate is issued.
